There are many new technology developments, political issues, and other local and state-wide concerns which could affect the installation, operation, and monitoring of security and fire alarm systems. Some of these issues may make an impact on YOU, and therefore A.H.S. Security is making an effort to keep our customers (both present and future) informed.

CITY OF DALLAS VERIFIED RESPONSE POLICY HAS BEEN REPEALED!!! The City of Dallas has reversed a policy which required a private patrol guard to respond to commercial burglary alarms in the city of Dallas. The commercial annual fee is now $100 which includes response for burglary and panic alarms. False alarm fines have been increased with fewer free false alarm dispatches.

DSL HIGH SPEED INTERNET AND ALARM SYSTEMS: If you are considering or already have installed DSL service on the same phone line as your security system is connected to, you MUST have a special splitter/filter installed in order to optimize the DSL speed and also to maintain the reliability of the security system's communications with the monitoring station. DSL can interfere with the security system's ability to communicate with the central station, and likewise the alarm system's circuitry can slow down the DSL service. Click here to read more info on how one of these special splitter/filters work. We have the Excelcus Z-BLOCKER in stock. Order one from us NOW!

VOIP INTERNET PHONE SERVICE: An internet service is becoming somewhat popular which is called VOIP or Voice Over Internet Protocol. The providers advertise free long distance and other benefits. This technology is NOT reliable when using it to transmit alarm signals to a monitoring station. The Internet has a much higher degree of unreliability in comparison to regular POTS (plain old telephone service) from the phone company. We understand that it sure sounds inviting to break away from a monopoly such as SBC or Verizon, but you will be severely reducing your security system's effectiveness if it has trouble calling in alarm signals with VOIP. Please call us to discuss your options if you are considering VOIP.

CELL BACK-UP RADIO CHANGES COMING! In February 2008 the there was an expiration of a sunset law that required cell carriers to support analog cell signals. For many alarm system customers who have analog cell back-up radios, their radios are now useless.

The analog radios must be replaced with GSM digital radios. A.H.S. Security has the new DSC 3060i GSM radio ready to go.

The new radios can report alarm signals to the monitoring station either as a back-up to a land line OR as the PRIMARY signal sender. This means that you can cancel your land line service, save the $40 or more per month you are paying to your phone company, and at the same time have a more secure and reliable alarm system.
